Summer Walking – Mountain Skills
Undertake a series of walks in the beautiful Lake District . The aim is to provide you with the necessary navigation skills to enjoy the British mountains in safety even if the visibility is poor. We will also look at weather, route planning and other skills to help you make the most of your time in the hills.

Scrambling
For those of you who love being in the mountains but want more of a challenge.
Scrambling involves ascending rocky ridges and slopes, the activity lies somewhere between walking and climbing. An excellent way to gain height on your way to a summit.
We can guide you on a series of classic scrambles or teach you the skills you will need to enjoy scrambling independently.

(Larger groups are possible though the choice of scramble may be more limited.)

Single Pitch Climbing
A good introduction to climbing, a single pitch crag may be around 40 – 60 feet in height and offers the ideal opportunity to learn about: harnesses, rope management and climbing technique. Single pitch climbing can be used as a taster or to enable you to build on your own skills.

Multi Pitch Climbing
Climb some of Lakeland 's classic multi pitch climbs in fantastic situations. You may have done some climbing before and want to expand on your experience or you may be new to climbing.
We will cover: stance management, placing protection, changeovers, dealing with common problems, abseil evacuation.
The type of climbs chosen will depend on your experience and aspirations.

Learning to Lead
For those who have some climbing experience and want to become independent climbers. We will teach you about: Equipment, route choice, belaying, placing protection, setting up belays, guide books and following route descriptions. Everything you need to be able to begin climbing independently.

Winter Walking
Mountain days in winter can be amongst the most rewarding and the most challenging. We will take you on full day in the hills usually to a summit or two. We will also give you the opportunity to learn some of the skills necessary for safe mountain walking in winter.

Winter Skills
The aim of this programme is to give you the necessary skills to safely enjoy the mountains of Britain in winter conditions.
We will cover: choice of equipment, use of ice axe and crampons, navigation techniques for winter conditions, basic ropework, avalanche assessment and route choice using knowledge of previous and predicted weather.

Winter Mountaineering
For those with some previous experience of winter walking who would like to tackle some more challenging routes.
This programme will include a refresher on the basic winter skills. We will also look at ropework and equipment needed to tackle grade I ridges and gullies. An excellent introduction to Winter Climbing.

Mountain Biking
The Lake District is renowned for it's many great tracks and bridleways that are excellent for mountain biking.
The route choice will depend on your experience, aspirations and the weather on the day. Practical advice will be available to help you improve your skill and get more out of this exhilarating sport.
